The Hootsuite alternative
Everything you scheduled with Hootsuite, plus the automations it keeps for its top tiers — at a flat price.
Hootsuite vs Ignix at a glance
Hootsuite is one of the original social media management tools, best known for scheduling and reporting across a lot of networks. It is a capable, enterprise-grade platform, and it is priced like one: plans run from $99 to $399 per user per month on annual billing, and the automation this comparison is about does not appear until the second tier.
Hootsuite does offer DM automations, automated message responses and AI smart replies — from the Professional plan at $199 per user per month. Ignix covers the same scheduling and analytics ground and includes comment-to-DM automations, chatbots for Instagram, WhatsApp and the web, a unified inbox and AI content from the entry plan on, flat, with unlimited contacts.
If you need enterprise-scale reporting, advanced approval workflows and the widest network coverage, Hootsuite is built for exactly that. If you want the same scheduling plus automation and chat without an enterprise budget, Ignix is the better fit.

What a team of three costs
Both tools meter something, and here the meters could hardly be more different. Hootsuite charges per user, per month. Ignix charges per connected social account, and the people are free.
That sounds like a detail until you look at how each side counts. Hootsuite lists every tier per user per month — $99 Standard, $199 Professional, $399 Advanced on annual billing — so each person you add multiplies the bill, and the collaboration features themselves (approving posts, assigning messages) sit in the upper tiers. Ignix prices the workspace, not the people: a team of three on Scale is $49 a month in total with the seats included, and Inferno at $79 takes an unlimited team.
The tier matters as much as the count, because of where the line falls. DM automations, automated message responses and AI smart replies — the automation this whole comparison is about — are not in Standard at all. They start at Professional, $199 per user per month. Assigning a message to a teammate starts higher still, at Advanced, $399. Here comment-to-DM is in the $19 plan.
One more line worth reading before you compare AI features: Hootsuite includes 100 AI credits a month, and it is the same 100 on Standard, on Professional and on Advanced. Paying four times more does not buy more AI. Ignix does not meter AI text at all, and includes 300 generated images a month.
Where the arithmetic turns the other way, and it does: Hootsuite gives one user unlimited social accounts from Professional. Ignix includes ten on Inferno and charges $6 for each one after that, so past about thirty accounts on a single seat, Hootsuite Professional is the cheaper of the two. If you are one person running dozens of client accounts and you do not need the automation, that is a real case for them and we would rather you knew it.
What moving over actually involves
Nothing you scheduled is lost, but nothing transfers either. There is no importer, and a converter that gets a publishing queue nearly right is worse than no converter at all — you end up auditing every post instead of writing the next one.
In practice you rebuild the queue rather than the posts. Connect your accounts, set the times you want to publish at, and let the calendar fill from there. If you would rather not do it by hand, Ignix has its own MCP server, so you can connect it to Claude or another assistant and hand it the brief: a month of posts, written, checked against each network’s rules and scheduled. Hootsuite has MCP connectors of its own — this is not a thing only we do — but it is the fastest way to get a calendar standing again.
The part that usually surprises people is the automation. In Hootsuite it lives behind the Professional tier and behaves like a rule on your inbox. Here it is a visual flow you draw: a comment with a keyword, a DM with a button, a wait, a condition, a branch. It is the same builder that runs the web chat and the WhatsApp conversations, so what you learn once applies everywhere.
Your history does not come with you and mostly does not need to. Analytics here reach back up to a year from the networks themselves once your accounts are connected, so within a day of connecting you are looking at real numbers rather than an empty dashboard. What you lose is anything Hootsuite computed on top of that — its own custom reports and dashboards, which are its own thing and stay behind.
Questions people ask before switching
- Can I move my scheduled posts from Hootsuite?
- There is no one-click import, and we would rather say so. What you rebuild is the queue: connect your accounts, set your posting times, and schedule ahead. Most people are back to where they were in an afternoon, and the DM automations Hootsuite keeps for its Professional tier come with every plan here.
- Does Ignix do the analytics Hootsuite is known for?
- Yes for what most teams actually use: reach, engagement and follower growth per account and per post, with up to a year of history. What Ignix does not try to be is an enterprise reporting suite with custom dashboards for a marketing department — if that is what you are buying, Hootsuite is the better fit.
- Does Ignix do social listening like Hootsuite?
- Partly, and it is worth being precise. You get brand mentions, sentiment, saved searches, review monitoring and a Reddit search for finding conversations worth joining. What you do not get is Lumen, Hootsuite’s listening product, which watches far more of the web and is sold at enterprise level. If listening is the reason you are buying, that is a point for them.
- Is Ignix cheaper than Hootsuite for a team?
- For a team, by a distance, because Hootsuite prices per person and Ignix does not. Their pricing page lists each plan per user per month, so the bill grows with headcount. On Ignix a team of three is $49 a month total on Scale, and from the fifth person Inferno at $79 covers an unlimited team — ten people cost the same as five.
- Can I approve posts before they go out?
- Yes. Team roles and an approval step are built in, so a post can wait for a reviewer before it publishes. Hootsuite has this too, on Advanced at $399 per user per month, along with assigning inbox messages to teammates.
- What about the analytics Hootsuite is known for?
- You get what most teams actually use: reach, engagement, impressions and follower growth per account and per post, best times to publish, and PDF reports you can send on. Up to a year of history. What Ignix does not try to be is an enterprise reporting suite with custom dashboards, scheduled report delivery and compliance controls — Hootsuite reserves those for Advanced and Enterprise, and if that is your requirement, it is the better fit.
- How long can I try each one?
- Hootsuite gives you 14 days without a credit card, though the trial caps you at 10–20 posts a day and turns bulk scheduling off. Ignix gives you 7 days with a card, uncapped. Theirs is longer and lower-commitment; ours lets you actually run your week through it.
The verdict
Hootsuite is a strong enterprise platform. Ignix gives most teams everything they actually use from Hootsuite — including the automation and chat Hootsuite keeps for its higher tiers — for a fraction of the price.
