Later is a visual planning tool, and the best of them for Instagram and TikTok: grid preview, Link in Bio, UGC collection, best times to post. If your work is deciding how the feed will look, it is genuinely hard to beat.
The catch is how it counts. Later sells social sets — one profile of each of its eight networks, bought as a block. Starter ($25) gives you one set, one user, 30 posts per profile a month and no inbox, and on Starter you cannot buy extras at all: a second Instagram account means moving up to Growth ($50), which includes two of each. Past that, another Instagram is a whole extra set at $15 a month — seven profile slots you did not ask for, to get the one you did.
The other line to check is the inbox. Starter has none: comments and DMs only arrive from Growth at $50. Extra users are $5 each and only from Growth as well, and the AI runs on credits you top up at $5 per hundred rather than coming with the plan.
Ignix is $39 a month for three accounts with no cap on posts, in any mix of networks — several of the same one included — plus the part Later does not cover at any price: a comment that turns into a DM by itself, and DMs and comments in one inbox. A team of three is $49 on Scale, and the AI agent that answers on its own comes with Inferno at $79.

Choose Later if the feed is the product. One brand, one account per network, and the job is planning how it looks: grid preview, Link in Bio and UGC collection are things we do not do, and its visual planner is better than ours. If that is the work, it is the better buy and we would rather say so.
Choose Ignix if…

How a social set actually prices out
A social set is one profile of each network Later supports: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Snapchat. Eight slots, sold as one unit. If you use three of them, you are paying for eight.
Starter, at $25 a month, is one set, one user and thirty posts per profile. It is also a closed box: Later's own pricing page says extra social sets, extra users and extra AI credits are not available on that plan. So a second Instagram account is not a $15 add-on there — it is a move to Growth.
Growth, at $50, is two sets — two of each network — two users, 180 posts per profile, and the first plan with an inbox. From there the extras exist: another set is $15 a month, another user $5, another hundred AI credits $5. Scale, at $110, is six sets and four users.
The shape of that bill depends entirely on whether your accounts spread or stack. A brand with one profile on each of six networks fits inside a single set and Later is cheap. An agency with four Instagram accounts and little else needs four sets — thirty-two profile slots to use four — and that is where the model stops being kind.
What happens after the post goes out
Later plans the post. What it does not do is answer what the post produces, and that gap is the reason a lot of people end up paying two subscriptions.
There is an inbox from Growth, and it is a real one: comments and DMs in a list you work through. What there is not is anything that acts on its own. No keyword that triggers a private message, no flow, no condition, no follow-up a day later, no agent that answers a question nobody anticipated.
That matters most at exactly the moment a visual brand starts working. A reel lands, two hundred people comment asking where to buy it, and someone has to open each conversation and paste the link by hand. The planning made the reel; nothing in the tool handles what the reel caused.
Here the same comment triggers the DM by itself, with the link as a button, and the flow can check whether the person follows you first, wait and nudge once if they did not open it, and hand over to a human the moment it stops being a script. - Can I move my Later visual planner across?
- The plan itself you rebuild — connect the accounts, drop your posts on the calendar. What changes immediately is the counting: a second Instagram account is not another social set here, it comes out of the accounts your plan already includes.
- Does Ignix have a visual grid preview like Later?
- You get per-network previews of how each post will look before it goes out, and a calendar you drag posts around in. Later's grid planner for laying out an Instagram feed aesthetically is a specific thing it does very well — if that is the reason you use it, keep it in mind.
- Is Ignix cheaper than Later?
- For one brand with one profile per network, Later's Starter at $25 is a fair price and you would not be using half of what our $39 plan does. The moment there are two accounts on the same network the comparison flips, because there you are buying a whole extra set of eight and here accounts come out of a bag you mix as you like. Run the count on your own accounts, not on the headline price.
- Can I run two Instagram accounts on Later?
- Yes, from the Growth plan at $50, which includes two of each network. On Starter you cannot: extra social sets are not sold on that plan at all. A third Instagram account is a third set at $15 a month, and that set brings seven other profile slots whether you want them or not.
- Does Later reply to comments and DMs?
- It has an inbox from the Growth plan where you read and answer by hand. What it does not have is automation: no keyword that sends a DM, no flow, no AI agent replying on its own. If that is the part you need, it is a second tool on top.
The verdict
Later is a lovely tool and for a single visual brand it may well be the better one. But its unit is the set, not the account. One Instagram is Starter; two means Growth at $50, because Starter will not sell you an extra at any price; three means a third set at $15 a month — eight profile slots priced as a block to get the one you actually needed. If your accounts stack on one network rather than spreading across eight, that is the arithmetic to run before you pick. And whichever plan you land on, the comments and DMs those posts produce are not something Later answers on its own.
